Welcome to the Bull Pen |

Station 5 is located at 8100 Vance Drive. This single story station was built in 1973 and has three apparatus bays, an office, four bedrooms, a kitchen and a clubroom. Our station covers the northeast section of the Arvada Fire Protection District. Our response boundaries are 72nd Avenue north to 88th Avenue and from Sheridan Boulevard west to Carr Street. We have 9 career firefighters who staff the station 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are three shifts, each with an officer, a driver and a firefighter.
The station houses two trucks: a 1999 Pierce engine and a custom rescue truck. Engine 5 is the primary response vehicle, responding on all EMS, fire and rescue calls. Rescue 5 (which carries the raft) is used primarily for ice rescues and as a support vehicle for swift water rescues. In addition to fire suppression, Haz Mat and EMS duties, the station also handles all of the district’s technical rescues. These include: high and low angle rope rescues, trench rescues, collapse incidents, confined space incidents, ice rescues, and vehicle extrications. All personnel train extensively to remain proficient in each of these disciplines. In an effort to reduce expense to taxpayers, AFPD’s station 5 is also affiliated with the North Area Technical Rescue Team. This team was formed by more than 7 metro area fire departments to share resources and manpower to effectively mitigate technical rescue incidents. This eliminates the need for participating fire departments to purchase duplicate specialized equipment. Currently there are more than a dozen fire departments contributing equipment and manpower to the team. Our affiliation allows us the ability to call neighboring agencies for manpower and equipment at no cost to the taxpayers. Some of the departments that assist in training and incident support are: Westminster Fire, North Metro Fire, North Washington Fire, and Federal Heights Fire Departments.
Station 5 although not the busiest station in the district running calls, Station 5 crew is a very busy station with other responsibilities that help serve our citizens and the department. Several of the crew members participate in several different aspects of the fire department. Station 5 currently has four members that are Car Seat Certified to assist in the installation of car seats; eight members are Driver Operators who can operate as the engineer at station 5 or any other station in the district that may need a engineer. Station 5 also has six Colorado Urban Search & Rescue team members. Station 5 members maintain a high level of dedication to the department and the community. |
