BURN PERMITS
(CONTROLLED BURNS)

Open burn permits will be issued for the following;

•  Open burn permits will be issued for Irrigation Ditch maintenance

•  Pine beetle slash, when approved by the Colorado Forest Service

Open burn permits WILL NOT be issued for field burning, tree limbs, dried leaves, garden debris, fence rows or other burns not directly related to the above situations unless an inspection is conducted by the Division of Fire Prevention prior to the issuance of a burn permit.

Applications for burn permits are available at the District Office, 6503 Simms Street, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday – Friday.

This policy is subject to change resulting from any state or local restrictions.

OPEN BURNING SHALL BE CONDUCTED AFTER DAWN AND COMPLETED BY DUSK

Agricultural, irrigation, Forest Management permits are good from March 1 st – October 31 st and are required to be renewed annually.

All valid burn permits for the Arvada Fire District are located in the dispatch Burn Permit Book. Before burning with a valid permit, the citizen shall call dispatch prior to and at the completion of burning.

Patio Fire Pits and Chimineas

Fire pits, chimineas, etc., are legal within the Arvada Fire Protection District and do not require a burn permit providing they meet the following stipulations of the 2003 International Fire Code and no burn restrictions are in effect. 

Recreational Fires

307.3.2  Recreational fires.  Recreational fires shall not be conducted within 25 feet (7.62 meters) of a structure or combustible material.  Conditions which could cause a fire to spread within 25 feet of a structure shall be eliminated prior to ignition.

307.4  Attendance.  Open burning or recreational fires shall be constantly attended until the fire is extinguished.  A minimum of one portable fire extinguisher complying with Section 906 with a minimum 4-A rating or other approved on-site fire extinguishing equipment, such as dirt, water barrel, garden hose or water truck, shall be available for immediate utilization.
