Citizen Academy
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to maneuver your way through a dark, smoke-filled house searching for a victim or what it’s like to extinguish a fire? Would you like the opportunity to extricate a
trapped victim from their car after an accident? Would you like to be able to recognize and help a choking victim or perform CPR on someone in cardiac arrest? If you have answered yes to any of the previous questions, you may be an ideal candidate to attend the next Citizen’s Fire Academy hosted by the Arvada Fire District.
The Academy is held at the fire district’s training center at 6651 Indiana Street. Classes will be from 8-5 with lunch being provided. Attendees will learn more about the services provided by their fire department and have the opportunity to complete select drill ground activities. Citizens will not be required to participate in any activity in which they do not feel comfortable.
Charles Smith, a recent graduate of the citizen’s academy, reported, “I have a much deeper appreciation of these folks after seeing what they do. You don’t expect others to put others before themselves, but that’s what they do.”
Any interested individual may attend, with preference given to local residents and those who work in the city. If you are interested please contact Scott Pribble at
303-424-3012 or email citizenacademy@arvadafire.com.
There is no cost for the academy.
