Effective today, October 12, 2010, the Fire Chief has lifted the fire ban that was put in place on September 14, 2010.
The following activities were prohibited during the ban:
- Building, maintaining, or using any open camp fire unless the fire is contained within a permanently constructed fire grate in a developed area.
- Building, maintaining, attending or using fire for the purpose of open burning of fence rows, ditches, debris, or vegetation. Burn permits that were previously issued are now authorized.
- Smoking and the disposal of improperly extinguished smoking materials while on undeveloped public lands.
- The use of fireworks or recreational rockets of any type.
As of this day, the Jefferson County Sheriff still has a fire ban for areas of unincorporated Jefferson County that are outside of our boundaries.
