Station 6

Truck Co. 6

Organized in 1974, Truck Co. 6 is one of two ladder companies in the Arvada Fire Protection District.  Truck Co. 6 shares quarters with the District Safety Officer and the District Battalion Chief.  Located at 6503 Simms St, the firehouse was also the site of the AFPD headquarters until 2008 when the district purchased a new headquarters building.  The firehouse now houses 12 firefighters, 3 Safety Officers, 3 Battalion Chiefs and remains one of the busiest in the District.

In addition to emergency services, many vital fire district responsibilities are assigned to the members of Truck 6.  General equipment purchasing and the district’s Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) program are maintained by members of the company.  The Department Quartermaster is also a member of Truck 6.

The Truck

In 2009, the AFPD took delivery of a new Pierce Quantum aerial apparatus to replace the old Truck 6. Old Truck 6 served the community for 18 years prior to being retired.  Members of the company planned and designed the apparatus over a 2 year period.  With seating for 6 firefighters, Truck 6 is equipped with a 95’ aerial ladder and a 2000 GPM (Gallons per minute) fire pump.
