WHY SHOULD I BECOME A VOLUNTEER RESERVE FOR ARVADA FIRE?
- The only people who are eligible for career firefighter positions
- College reimbursement program for Fire Science related classes
- Excellent training opportunities necessary to maintain Firefighter certifications
- Stipend for expenses

The minimum eligibility criteria are as follows:
- Applicants must possess a current Colorado EMT certificate;

Applicants must possess Firefighter I and Hazmat Ops certification;
- NOTE: Once an application deadline has been established, proof of current participation in an EMT program or Firefighter I course will be accepted in lieu of certifications.
- Applicants must be at least 18 years of age;
- Applicants must have obtained a high school diploma or equivalent;
- Applicants must have a valid Colorado driver's license, a good driving record and a clear criminal record (a Colorado Bureau of Investigation background check and Motor Vehicle Record will be requested during the review process).

FOLLOW THESE STEPS
- Legibly complete the Volunteer Reserve Application and sign where indicated.
- Read and sign the “Drivers License and Insurance Verification” form.
- Read and sign the “Permission for Release of Individual Records” for your Motor Vehicle Record (MVR). Police and driving records are checked to determine applicant eligibility. Our standards restrict us from accepting new members who have a poor driving record or any criminal record.
- Obtain fingerprints from the Arvada Police Department. There is no cost to our applicants. YOU MUST HAVE A PHOTO ID WITH YOU. Walk-in hours at 8101 Ralston Road (City Hall) are Tuesday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
- Submit your application packet, in person, to AFPD headquarters at 7903 Allison Way during regular business hours (8am to 5pm). If any signatures, information, or forms are missing, you will not be considered for the Academy until information is complete.
- Following the closing date, applications are reviewed; MVR and background checks are completed; a written test, fitness evaluation and physical are administered; a panel interview is held; and reference checks are completed prior to the beginning of the academy.
