SMOKE DETECTOR CHECKS

Statistics from the National Fire Protection Agency show that 95% of all homes have at least one smoke detector but that over half of all fire related deaths happen in the 5% of homes without detector. Also, in one-quarter of the reported fires in homes equipped with smoke alarms, the devices did not work. Households with non-working smoke alarms now outnumber those with no smoke alarms at all.

If you would like to have your detectors checked, call the Arvada Fire District at 303-424-3012. When the firefighters stop by, they will be able to check your existing detectors, recommend locations for future installations, install one detector per floor if a functional detector does not exist, and conduct a home safety inspection.
