Firefighters from the Arvada Fire Protection District were called to a structure fire at Duke’s Mobile Home Park located at 5460 Harlan Street. The initial call came in at 1:28 am and multiple calls were received about the fire. The first fire unit arrived on the scene in six minutes and reported a fully involved mobile home with one trailer exposed to fire and heat on both sides of the initial trailer. The occupants of the initial trailer had evacuated prior to the firefighter’s arrival and a search of the two exposure trailers found that no one was inside.

Due to the head start that the fire had and the intense heat, the exposed trailer to the east also became involved in fire. Both units were a total loss. The exposed trailer to the west only suffered minor heat damage. A pickup truck that was parked in front of the initial trailer suffered moderate damage as well. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents. One resident from the initial trailer suffered a minor burn and was treated on scene by Pridemark Paramedics.

The Arvada Fire Protection District’s Fire Marshalls investigated the cause of the fire and determined that the fire was started by a portable electric heater that had been placed too near combustible materials.
