Station 2 covers a diverse area in Arvada including several commercial buildings, residential areas, waterways, railroad and the I-70 corridor. Station 2 ran over 1500 calls in the year 2001.
The Arvada Fire Department purchased a
2002 American LaFrance fire truck for the replacement of old Engine 2. All
firefighters at station 2 played an intricate part in the design of the new
engine. The new engine has been designed to utilize all compartment space for
optimal equipment storage. Engine 2 is one of the busiest engine companies in
Arvada, set up to handle fires, medical calls, and is also a heavy rescue for
extrication. It carries a full compliment of hose, tools and specialty tools for
auto accidents. Due to the high volume of vehicle accidents on I-70 Engine 2
along with Engine 1 are highly trained group of people ready to handle any type of accident and extrication they may be called upon to respond to.
All members of station 2 are also specially trained in Swift Water and Ice Rescue techniques. Due to large amount of water areas located in Arvada, the need for a water/ice rescue team was established. This group of rescuers train not only on Fire, Rescue and Medical skills, they also train to perform swift water and ice rescues. Scat 2 is equipped with a raft, floatation devices, rope, and ice rescue suits. The water team has attended and obtained certifications in swift water rescue as well as ice rescue, and works with Station 5 to serve the community in all water rescue situations.
